Mohammad. Abul Kalam, Managing Director of TK Group of Industries, started his career in commodity trading in 1972. He gradually started his own edible oil refinery plant TK Oil Refinery in Kalurghat, Chittagong in 1981. This was only the beginning in the creation of one of the most diversified and successful business conglomerates in Bangladesh. He is considered to be one of the most valued clients to most of the financial institutions, both local and international. Under his dynamic leadership TK Group of Industries not only continued to excel in the new millennium but also has achieved a unique image for itself as being one of the most stable, profitable and ethical conglomerates in Bangladesh. Currently there are 49 industries under the umbrella of TK Group of Industries most of which are currently in smooth operation and its products and services range from edible oil, cement, steel, leather, paper, garments, knitting, veneer & particle boards etc. TK Group is one of the top five players in the edible oil and vegetable fat, paper, steel, and commodity trading sectors.

Ms. Farzana Afroze, the eldest daughter of Mohammad Abul Kalam, completed her Bachelors in Science in Business Studies with
an emphasis on Entrepreneurial Studies from the University of Southern California, Marshall School of Business, USA in May 2004. During
her stay in the USA, she had the opportunity to be an Intern at UBS Financial Services, one of the world’s leading financial institutions,
where she was the key person to design the Retirement Benefit Training Manual. She was a nominated member of the Marshall
Women’s Leadership Board (MWLB) and was selected as a Marshall Student Ambassador.
Her other educational achievements include: Special Merit Scholarship, Dean’s List Student in 2002 and 2003, USA Dean’s List Student in 2003, and membership of National Society of Collegiate Scholars, USA. After her graduation, she worked for a high-end fashion company, Mellies Inc., Beverly Hills, California as Special Projects Manager where she was responsible for bringing strategic changes within the organization and build a more structured and decentralized operation system. She decided to return to Bangladesh in July 2005. From 2005 Ms. Afroze started overseeing the garments business which is due to her leadership & hard efforts currently doubling-up its capacity and a button manufacturing factory has started to roll.

Mr. Mohammad Mustafa Haider, the eldest son of Mohammad Abul Kalam, completed his Bachelors in Science in Business Studies with an emphasis in Finance from the University of Southern California, Marshall School of
Business, USA in May 2005. After completing his graduation that year, Mr. Haider came back to Bangladesh and joined Premier Cement. He was overseeing the sales of Premier Cement and under his supervision the sales of Premier Cement doubled within the next 6 months!
Mr. Haider is also involved in the Sales and Marketing of TK consumer products under the brand name of Pusti & Family.
